{Wrote this about a month ago now, but I didn't want to forget what was in motion here bedtime-wise... and how I'd like to get back to this. But as every parent knows- kids constantly change and so does the norm}

Small. That is what this place is. All 3 kids are in the same room now. (why? Well that's another post). But the small space is doing something. Something good. We are close. Closer than I think we would be if we each had our own space. It's helping us be a family, not just people who live in the same space. We are doing life together. Bedtime is one of those things. Prayers and then read. But not reading to ourselves, but being read to. And this is a more recent thing we've morphed into consistently. Miss E is older now, and understands we are doing something and she gets to be apart of it- so this is possible now. Right now we are listening to D read The Hobbit. Sharing glances with Mr E and Miss L about a silly moment, talking to D about intricacies, rocking and nursing Miss E while we listen. I like this life we are making... together. For all the faults of this house, it's smallness isn't one of them. It can be frustrating at times, but what's bursting forth from that is good.
