{a picture after the freakish snowstorm we had at the beginning of this month}

AhI have to do this now. My last evening before reality hits. It's been a blissful week and a half. The 2 oldest got to spend over a week with my parents. It was truly a gift I needed badly. I feel refreshed. I did all kinds of stuff that I wanted to do. I could actually hear my own thoughts, my own voice. I wasn't lost in the chaos of three littles.

I retrieved the kids this afternoon and so I want to right down a few thoughts before they are forgotten.

-Spent a lot of time with her and just being around each other... and she didn't always comply with the quiet policy. :) But she was pretty cute. Lots of hugs, lots of cuddles, lots of nursing. I seriously thought we'd be done by now, but no. We've actually increased feeds over the week.

-Spent some good quality time with my man. We could actually talk, stay up late and talk. We could talk and not be interrupted. It was really, really nice.

-I took naps. Not every day- ok... maybe only once. But I did go to bed early most nights. Ok, maybe not every night either. But I sure do feel refreshed despite the sleep I may or may not have gotten.

-I painted a little play kitchen my favorite green paint. I scraped the garage and wondered if I'll ever get that repainted.

-I watched this squirrel raid our bird feeder.

-I deep cleaned, not only parts of the house, but the bus too. Hauled over 15 bags full of blown in insulation from our attic. We are attempting to finish that space and that stuff has got to go. My legs were shaking afterwards and quite sore for some time.

-Spent some time with the bones of this house: it needs help badly in so many ways. We've learned a lot from being in this house. How to fix things. We've experimented with alternative heating. It's given me the gift of perspective when it comes to wants and needs. We've narrowed down more what we like and don't like about houses.

-I spent a whole day doing this.

I was obsessed with drafting floor plans one summer. I have a folder full of ideas. It was fun to go back and look at them and see how much I've changed since then. And that obsession almost led me to a career in architecture. As a freshmen, I was Pre-Architecture- attending a college to get generals with the plan to then transfer to the U of MN to pursue an architecture degree. Somewhere between a job-shadow where I heard about scary tests, realization that drafting was becoming more computerized and life in general, I never did go that direction. I liked drawing. And still do.

Paper, pencil, eraser, my grandpa's drafting board, and the drafting T I got from my Architectural Drafting teacher in high school as a gift. Ha, I even have the box of dots from high school and my original eraser. I'm a nerd. It was such a pleasant afternoon. Can't wait for a chance to get back at it again.

-And lots of time outside in the sunshine. It was such a great week and a half. Thanks mom and dad and Kiki for giving me that time.
