Ron Paul 2012 and the Media Blackout

A little humor on a not so humorous situation...

2 weeks later Fox got an "exclusive interview" with Ron Paul...

Ron Paul 2012

we are being loved on...

reinforcements have arrived... and we are soaking up their attention and love...

bath time...

Bathing two kids who can't bathe together can be challenging some nights...
But this was a good night...

bath time is definitely our chance to learn...

it's the only place he's in one place long enough to attempt it...
colors... numbers... and copying the silly sounds that mom makes... that's our curriculum right now. :)

And this little gal... sometimes she joins us while he bathes... kicks on the floor while E shows her his toys... and waits her turn.

And on this night, the little man listened well... and stayed in his bed and read his books... while she took her bath.

Bike riding...

I have to confess that I wasn't entirely sold on his idea...

making a bike cart for the kids...

but he went ahead with his plans...

and it turned out really well...

and he's gotten a lot of good use out of it...

and my desire to try it out grew each time he'd come back and tell me about it...

and so I took my first test drive a few nights ago. I went up the smaller hill out of town (not as ambitious as he is... 2 big hills and 2 kids). Just E and I. It was an overcast evening with light sprinkles and a breeze. The colors were vibrant all around... the sloughs were full of ducks, birds, and muskrats. I took my time. Stopped a lot to listen and look. This was my first time taking a long bike ride since before Elijah was born.

It was so refreshing... and now I'm sold... it was a great idea D!

crafty bits...

Pants!

I've been wanting to make a few for her. Nice to have something light to go with onesies for the summer months.

The green pair, I goofed on... sewed up the leg seam as the center seam. So the butt is a little small... but it still works. The red pair I got right. :)
Pattern from Made by Rae.

Cards!

A way to use really small scraps of fun fabric...

I made these before Lydia was born... finally made the time to share.

The white cards are the cheap bulk pack from Walmart.

Some things I want to do...
Make more of these:

They are so fun right now for E and I... and could make some good gifts for babies coming. Elijah and I run around the living room... I chase him and throw them at him. He thinks it's hilarious.

And this:
A seat cushion... tutorial from Living with Punks. Last Christmas I wanted to make Elijah a bean bag... just never happened... this seems a lot more do-able. Just need to be motivated at night to start on it.

And this:
Cartwheel quilt top... thanks to Crazy Mom Quilts.
Just envision shades of a mellow yellow, gray, and white. Maybe just yellow and white... it's a long ways off... but something I'd like to do for our bedroom upstairs.

But in reality... I've got 3 other projects that have to get done before these start. The problem though is when I start opening tubs and cupboards full of fabric, and have a little time to look around at craft sites... I get distracted from the tasks at hand. :)

More hopefully tomorrow... (it's my week alone!!). I have so many great pictures to share with you all. Learning to enjoy the moments... and the life God has given me. I don't know why I have such a gnawing fear in my life... that somehow it's all going to be taken away... I tense up just writing that. Somehow that it's too good to be true... and at any moment it's going to be snatched away. I hate that I have this fear... so I'm working on diving in, living it up... and confessing that fear to the one who can help me overcome.

computer woes...

oh computers... in an effort to make sure our computer would not be affect by power outages... it crashed... things got messed up... as you can see. the funny thing is all my coding is fine... it's just how the computer is interpreting it. which is annoying... sigh... so a different day i'll do updates once it's fixed and i don't have a little guy clammering for my attention. :)
It's fixed! Many thanks to my sleep deprived husband. :)

where we've been...

The Lake...

celebrating life: one birthday... one funeral... one wedding...

On the road...

sleepovers...

and finding rhythm and reason at home...

had some good family time last week at the lake. actually got some decent sleep while we were there... and i got in the lake everyday!

gearing up for another week on my own. i'm not dreading it as much as i was the first time. we made it. we can do it again. and i know of people that are willing to help... i just need to ask. and it's ok to make everyone take timeouts... i don't know what it is that i feel like i need to be with the kiddos all the time while we are at home. sometimes those timeouts are just necessary... a chance to regroup and start over. elijah is getting better about playing by himself which has given me a chance to craft a bit... i'll show you what i've been up to and what i'd like to do a different day.

and i'll have to do a kid update... maybe a video as well if i can get a refresher course on editing.
