That's a lot of milk...

So I was reading an article in my Answers in Genesis magazine this morning entitled "Dinosaurs- Living Large". In there they were talking about one of the largest dinosaurs discovered- the sauropods. Here's the sentence that caught my attention (they were comparing whales- the largest mammal known today- to sauropods to give perspective): "And unlike whales, which drink up to 100 gallons a day of their mother's milk in the first year, young sauropods dined on conifers, far less nutritious fare than milk." Did you get that? 100 gallons of milk a day!?! That makes my 24oz a day seem rather puny. Seriously... that's a lot of milk.
So while we are kind of on the topic of nursing... I realized that I'm going to have a lot of down time... quiet times to just sit and be. I'm curious to know how other mom's spend or spent their time while nursing. I've spent time baby gazing, but my neck is getting sore. I've watched some hulu.com. I've read some books and when D is around sometimes he'll read to us. A new development lately has been conversation time. In between sides he's decided on occasion that we need to have a conversation. It has been so fun.

A movie worth seeing...

Opening this Friday...TO SAVE A LIFE

11 days later...

Here's a few photos for you all. We are doing well here. Our snow is starting to melt away with the warmer weather we've been enjoying. I took E out for his first walk the other morning... down to the post office (it's a block away). So much has been going on... yet when I sit down to write... I can't think of anything. As you can see he is getting smiley which is so much fun. D and I both think we've heard him say "hi!", however it's probably just him exhaling hard. He's growing some hair on top to catch up with the mullet he's got going on in the back. BF is going sooooo well now... (thank you Lord!) Sometimes he likes tummy time, other days not. We've ventured into the cloth diapers and it's going well. It's really nice to not have to buy diapers. So far we've only bought one box in 2 months... but ofcourse that is thanks to all the generous people in our life who gave us plenty of them so we didn't have to buy them. Those lasted us for the first month easily until we started up on the cloth. We still have I think enough for another month if I'm diligent with the cloth and we don't take a lot of trips into town. When we go to town we take disposables... it's just easier. I do have it in my mind someday to take cloth... but we'll just have to see. Did you know there are bags out there that you can store the dirty ones in? When he wears cloth we have more wet outfits... but that's mostly cause I don't have them on quite right. I'm learning though- quickly... cause changing outfits at 4am isn't fun. :) Other than stuff about E... D has been working hard on house projects. He's wired up 3 more outlets upstairs that are on separate breakers, rigged up a system for heating our main floor with hot water from the water heater, and put in storm windows. The heated floor is super nice! Maybe I'll have to take a picture of that. Oh and a funny thing... D got me a heated toilet seat for Christmas! :) I complained a lot about not heating our bathroom downstairs ( which I would frequent a lot at night during feedings ) ... and so he got me a heated toilet seat. It is spectacular! As for me, I'm loving being a mommy! I'll have to write more about that in a different post. Anywho... some random photos for you of the wee-one.

Time

It's been a busy few months... so much has been going on... family Christmas with both sides... lots of snow and adventures in driving... a little one growing up before our eyes... learning to manage my time. For so long I've been able to do what I wanted or needed to do when ever. But that doesn't quite work the same now. With E nursing (which is going SOOOO much better) I have about 45min-1hr in between feedings... that is if he is not fussy and wanting to be held. It's really weird... and I find that days fly by. I'm living off of my Baby Daze book (a great gift for any mother!)... which alerts me to the fact another day has passed. :) I hope this doesn't seem like I'm complaining... cause I'm not. I'm just sharing how my days are going and why I don't update this like I'd like to. It's definitely all about prioritizing right now. Well I'm going to get back to my little man and the final things I hope to accomplish tonight. Hope you all had a Merry Christmas and are off to a great start this new year.
